About us.

The Pastoral Centre comprises of three main meeting rooms, St Joseph’s the biggest of the three caters for a capacity of 200 people, while the other two rooms St Macartan’s and St Patrick’s are ideal for smaller meetings, presentations, lectures and training sessions but also comfortable for relaxation classes each serviced by a kitchenette.

This modern purpose built centre is suitable for young and old of the community with disabled access to the second floor and toilet facilities.

The centre is warm and inviting, at the heart of the Parish community.  It is used for a variety of parish activities and provides facilities for clubs, societies and recreational pursuits.

How it started

The Pastoral Centre was opened in March 2013.  The person behind this great venture was Fr Owen Joe McEnaney ADM. of Monaghan Parish at that time.  The original plan was to renovate St Joseph’s Chapel in Park Street, which was badly in need of repairs.  When the situation was reassessed it was agreed that the parochial hall was in greater need of attention, and so the plan went forward to build a Pastoral Centre and refurbish St Joseph Church.

The Parochial Hall was adjoined to St Joseph’s Chapel and had only one entrance into Park Street with no parking facilities.  St Macartan’s Hall as it was known then catered for young and old with weekly activities such as bingo, Irish dancing and youth club along with an annual Parish Dance which was well attended and a great favourite for many.

In September 2013 Fr McEnaney handed this new venture over to Fr Paddy McGinn now ADM of Monaghan Parish.
