The Old Monaghan Society
‘The Old Monaghan Society’ is a local community heritage group that aims to research, document, share, and archive the history of Monaghan Town and it’s wider environs. We hold presentations on some aspect of local history in St. Joseph’s Pastoral Centre on the second Monday of each month commencing at 8.15pm. Everyone is welcome to attend our monthly presentations.’
Argentine Tango Classes
There are two types of Tango: Tango Salon (Social Tango) and Tango Escenario (Stage/Choreographed Tango). Tango Salon or Social Tango is an improvised dance and is danced across the world everyday in Milongas (social dance events) every night of the week. Tango Escenario or Staged Tango is choreographed and rehearsed before being put in front of an audience.

We advise CORE Kids games with some sports for children aged 4-6 year olds and multisport for kids aged 7 and over

Dance with Lesley’s Junior & Senior Commercial Dance classes work with boys & girls (ages 7-18) to develop their confidence, coordination, teamwork skills, stage presence, musicality & general love of movement! The weekly Thursday class builds on steps, resulting in learning full routines & working towards stage productions. No previous dance experience necessary & classes are taught in a non-competitive, encouraging environment, with a keen focus on encouraging our passion for dance. New beginners are welcome throughout the year.
Monaghan Charismatic Prayer Group
Monaghan Charismatic Prayer Group meet every Monday night except Bank Holidays from 8pm-10pm in St.Josephs Pastoral Centre under the knowledge and obedience of Bishop Larry Duffy and the spiritual direction of Fr.Peter Okpetu. Rosary and Chaplet Of Divine Mercy 7.30pm followed by Holy Mass on the second Monday night of each month at 8pm in St.Josephs Church and Adoration on the last Monday night of each month in the Pastoral Centre .

Indoor Bowls is primary a winter sport. The season starts in September and finishes in April. Indoor bowls is one of the few sports that people of all ages can compete in together at a high level we currently have twenty members in our club ranging in age from 15 to 80 years of age.We play every Thursday night from 8 to 10 and our club is very proactive and always welcomes new members.
U3A Monaghan
The University of the Third Age is an organisation open to anyone 55+ Our motto is Live, Laugh and Learn which reflects the various strands of the U3A, social, physical and educational. The Monaghan group started with a small group in Ballinode and has blossomed to today’s membership of 700+ Our activities are wide ranging and include language classes, art classes. Pilates, line dancing, social dancing, walks, choir, coffee morning and trips to name but a few. We have been fortunate that St. Joseph’s Pastoral centre has been able to accommodate us for our Pilates, Chair aerobics and Line Dancing classes. Members have enjoyed their classes in the Pastoral centre’s comfortable rooms.
